Vicki Adkins Obituary

Obituary For Vicki Lynn Adkins Vickie Lynn Adkins, affectionately known as Granny, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2024, at the Hospice House surrounded by her family. She entered this world on April 30, 1956, in Youngstown, from the union of Obie Adkins & Millicent Williams. Granny was a woman of uncompromised strength and resilience. She graduated from The Rayen School and went on to pursue a career as an assembler in the manufacturing industry, working diligently for High Tec Company in Toledo. Outside of her family life, Vickie had a deep appreciation for entertainment. She was an avid movie-goer, with a special fondness for films by Tyler Perry, as well as classics like " and. Her all-time favorite movie, however, was Alex Haley's epic TV series, which resonated with her on a profound level. Her preferred mode of transportation was walking; she was extremely independent and strong willed. Pride was her strength and superpower. Vickie had a zest for life, finding joy in dancing and attending live concerts. Her love for music and dance brought a smile to her face and inspired those around her to join in the celebration of life's simple pleasures. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Vickie Lynn Adkins will be remembered as a strong, compassionate, and vibrant woman. Her legacy lives on through the love she shared, the memories she created, and the impact she had on the lives of those fortunate enough to have known her. Granny could be feisty and unfiltered but always expressed from a place of love and truth. Family was the cornerstone of Vickie's life. Vickie's dedication and unconditional love was extended to her daughters Shalanda Adkins & Laticia Alexander and son Durwin Adkins, as well as her cherishing her grandchildren and great grandchildren, smothering them all generously with love, among them, Jujuan Adkins, whom she help to nurture and rear. She will be fondly remembered by her sisters Marjorie Brooks, Josephine Williams, Caroline Williams, Lynnette Adkins, Sheila Adkins and Lisa Adkins, brothers Harold Brooks and Dale Hopkins. She also had a special relationship with her god brother Daryl Harvey, god daughter Rashida Williams and a large score of family & friends. However, Vickie's love was not limited to her immediate family. She embraced the role of Granny to the fullest; opening her home and her heart to many children she cared for over the years. Her nurturing spirit left an indelible mark on those she touched. She could share telling stories, often providing her own narratives which created some awesome memories. She was welcomed into eternity greeted by her parents, daughter Keishma Adkins, brothers Steven Brooks, Obie Adkins Jr. and Michael Peoples, along with three nephews. A true embodiment of love and compassion, Vickie touched the lives of many. Her warm smile and authentic nature will always serve as a reminder of the goodness that resides in all of us. She had a knack for finding joy in the simplest of moments, and her infectious laughter brought happiness to those around her. During this time, let us join together to celebrate the vibrant life of Vickie Lynn Adkins. May her memory continue to inspire us all to live each day with kindness, love, and an unwavering zest for life.
