Virgina Flaherty Obituary
On Saturday, October 25, 2025, Virginia "Ginny" Kay Flaherty, age 67, of Struthers, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Youngstown, OH on September 25, 1958 to Charles Mohr and Hazel (McCreary) Thompson.
For most of her life, Ginny lived in Struthers and built a life full of warmth, laughter, and love. She was the devoted wife of Jim Flaherty, beloved mother to Jimmy (Jessie) Flaherty, and proud "Gammies" to Destiny and Jay, who brought endless joy to her days.
Ginny spent her career working hard and taking pride in her work as a house cleaner, forming lasting friendships with many of the people she helped over the years. Outside of work, she had a deep love of music and was always happiest at a good concert, listening to her favorite songs.
A woman of faith, Ginny was a longtime member of Good Hope Lutheran Church, where she found comfort, community, and purpose. Pastor Bob was a huge influence on her, and her legacy lives on in her family, her church, and in the lives she saved by being an organ donor.
She is survived by her loving husband Jim; her son Jimmy and daughter-in-law Jessie; her cherished grandchildren, Destiny and Jay; her brother Gary (Vicky); her sister Mary; her brother-in-law Mike; and many beloved nieces and nephews (near and far). Ginny has been preceded in death by her mother, Hazel Thompson, father, Charles Mohr, brother, Chuck Mohr, sister, Betty Mohr-Steiner, sister- and brother-in-laws Maggie and Bruce, and sister-in-law Sherri Flaherty.
Ginny's family and friends will remember her for her kind heart, strong spirit, and ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved.
A church service celebrating Ginny's life will be held at Good Hope Lutheran Church in Boardman at a later date. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend and share in honoring her memory.
Ginny's family would like to thank everyone for their love, prayers, and support during this time. Though she will be deeply missed, her warmth and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
