William Kirkwood Obituary
William "Bill" Kirkwood, a cherished family man and respected member of the community, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, in Southington, Ohio, at the age of 86. Born on June 4, 1939, in Warren, Ohio, Bill was the beloved son of the late Gerald and Rose Marie Kirkwood. His life was a testament to the values of hard work, dedication, and the joy of adventure.
Bill grew up in Warren and was a proud graduate of Champion High School, where he excelled in basketball and baseball, demonstrating early on his love for sports and competition. After graduation, he began a long and fulfilling career at Packard Electric, where he worked as a tinsmith for 30 years. His commitment to his craft earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
In his personal life, Bill was a Christian and a member of the First Community Church of Leavittsburg. Bill was also a proud member of the Moose Lodge 186.
Bill married his loving wife Leah, and together they shared 42 beautiful years. Their blended family included stepson, Donnie (Dawn) Maurer of Leavittsburg, Ohio; stepdaughter, Stacie Maurer of Leavittsburg, Ohio; and daughter, Andrea (Timothy) Chrysler of Waco, Texas. Bill was a doting grandfather to Peter (Samantha) Maurer, Blake (Gracie) Maurer, Tyler Maurer, Tessia (Sara) Grimmett, Calla (Jermey) Blalock, Tori Chrysler, TJ Chrysler, and Jake Tucker. His legacy continued to grow with the joys of his great-grandchildren, Sophie, Avery, Nora, and Preslee; and he also held a special place in the hearts of his many nieces and nephews.
Bill's adventurous spirit shone through in his passion for hunting, a pastime he often shared with his brother, Ron, and grandchildren, Peter and Tessia. The bonds formed during those quiet hours in nature were immeasurable and left lasting memories. His generous nature was evident in the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harlon, Joe and Ron Kirkwood; and his sister, Geraldine Kirkwood.
Bill's legacy will live on through the many lives he touched. His family takes comfort in knowing that he led a full and meaningful life, filled with love, laughter, and the occasional adventure into the great outdoors.
In honor of Bill's wishes, there will be no services. As we bid farewell to William "Bill" Kirkwood, we do so with heavy hearts, but also with profound gratitude for the time we shared with him. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories passed down through generations and in the lessons, he taught us all about living life to the fullest.
