Zada Wiltermood Obituary

Zada Cash Wiltermood
A longtime Rogue Valley resident, and beloved mother and grandmother, Zada, passed away Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008. She was born Oct. 3, 1919, in Central Point, Ore., the last of eight children born to John and Louesa Cash. Zada grew up in Central Point, and graduated in 1938. On Nov. 24, 1938, in Medford, Ore., she married her employer, Carl, and together they ran Medford's first drive-up restaurant, The Coffee Pot. Carl joined the service and they were stationed in Hobbs, N.M., where they had their first child, and then returned to Medford at the end of the war. In 1946, they moved to Boise, Idaho where they ran several restaurants and had their second child. They returned to Medford in 1955, and opened Jack's Drive Up. Zada and Carl continued in the restaurant business, selling their last establishment, The Clock Cafe in downtown Medford, in 1969. Zada later worked for the Medford School District cafeteria, retiring in 1980.
She will always be remembered as a loving, gentle, caring person, giving to others and was a member of Reames Chapter O.E.S.
Zada was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Carl; her parents; and siblings. She is survived by daughters, Karlene (George) Holt, Sandra (Bill) Quitt; grandsons, Kevin Wade, Shawn (Christine) Quitt, Jonathan (Nanette) Quitt; great-grandsons, Tyler, Tanner and Trenton Quitt. The family would like to especially thank Zada's brother-in-law, Aetna Carr, who for the past four years, along with Wynwood of Rogue Valley, saw to Zada's excellent and loving care.
A memorial at Wynwood will be announced at a later date. Donations may be made in memory of Zada to the Southern Oregon Special Olympics, P.O. Box 403, Talent, Ore., 97540, or to Medford Providence Hospice.
Zada will be greatly missed by many people.

Zada, I remember you and Carl from the many functions we all attended at the Medford Elks years ago. I believe Allen and I still owned the Clock Cafe some of that time; we bought The Clock from the ladies you and Carl sold to. I'm going to forward your notice to Leah Furnas (Peobody) now in Coos Bay, who worked in - would you believe - The Coffee Pot! I always admired you as being such an elegant lady. You and Carl, and Aetna too, made me feel welcome at the club.

Thank you.
