AUGUSTA - Arthur Lee Stevens, 88, of Augusta, passed away peacefully Monday, June 12, 2017, at Maine General Hospital surrounded by his family. Born Dec. 14, 1928, in Providence, R.I. to Dexter and Margaret Stevens, he lived most of his life in Bowdoinham.
Lee was passionate about two things, boats and politics and could talk endlessly about either. As an adult he lived and raised his family in Bowdoinham, on Merrymeeting bay, not far from the summer home he enjoyed with his family as he was growing up. Lee served in the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1949. His love for the water and boating continued throughout his life. In his retirement years he was able to travel by boat via the inter-coastal waterway from Maine to Bradenton, Fla. and on to his winter home in Hilton Head, S.C., returning each summer to Maine.
Lee is survived by his daughters, Rhonda Stevens Day and her husband Michael, Lori Ouellette, son Darrell Stevens and his wife Courtenay; and many loving grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Dexter, Robinson, Sylvia and Ezra.

Private burial will be held at Maine Veteran's Cemetery. There will be a celebration of his life held at a later date.
