Carl Hamlin Obituary

Carl Hamlin
1929 - 2017
WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. - Carl Hamlin, 87, passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017, surrounded by family. He was born in Benton Station, Maine in 1929 and graduated from Lawrence Highschool in 1946 and served in the Army in Alaska as a paratrooper. In 1952 he married Priscilla Russell and moved to Hartford, Conn. where he worked 15 years at Pratt & Whitney. They then moved to Windsor Locks, Conn. where they started their family and business together.
Carl and Cilla worked together their entire married life from owning gas stations on the Merit Parkway and one in Vernon, along with a vending company, to owning JP's restaurant in Hartford, Conn. 12 years later they both went on to retirement, enjoying playing poker with friends and neighbors, and vacationing in Maine with family. Carl enjoyed going to the track and was the owner of five Trotters Horses and loved the dog races too! He was a big fan of the Red Sox and the UCONN women's team.
Carl is predeceased by his wife Priscilla, whom they were married for 64 years. He leaves his son Miles Hamlin, daughter, Tracy Cody and husband Chipper Cody, and fresh-air child Franklin Valentin and wife Toni Valentin; his grandchildren Alissa and Michael Cody, Franklin Jr. and Katerina Valentin; his sister Sherlie Thayer, and sister-in-law Dawn Beatson.
Relatives and friends may join us at Grove Street Cemetery, School St. in Windsor Locks, June 10, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. for the service for both Carl and Priscilla Hamlin, followed by the reception at Skyline Restaurant, Windsor Locks. Please let Tracy Cody know if you are coming so we may plan accordingly.
