He was born on May 26, 1925, the son of Vital and Ozithee (Saucier) Morrissette in Waterville. Carroll graduated from Winslow High School in 1943. During that summer, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy to serve his country in World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. On June 21, 1947, he married his high school sweetheart, Lucille Brillard. This coming June, they would have been married 66 years.
Carroll and Lucille raised two children, Robert and Kathleen. Bob and his partner, Tammy, reside in Scarborough; and Kathy and Rene Desrosiers live in Winslow. Carroll was very proud of his sports accomplishments while at Winslow High School, excelling in football, baseball and track. Later, after he married, he was the quarterback of the "Augusta Millionaires" a semi-pro football team. Over the years, he also enjoyed playing on various softball teams for local leagues. Following his involvement with team sports, he became an avid golfer and loved playing at Pine Ridge golf course where he was recognized for getting not one hole-in-one, but two after the age of 70.
In addition to his love of sports, he also thoroughly enjoyed listening to music and singing. He entertained many with his renditions from the songs of long ago. He continued to enjoy singing well into his eighties and often sang at Karaoke activities at the nursing center.
Family vacations were spent on North Pond or camping all over Maine and New Hampshire. In retirement, Carroll and Lucille took many trips out west to Las Vegas, Nev., visiting the national parks as well as enjoying several memorable cruises in the Caribbean. Carroll was a member of the McCrillis-Rousseau VFW Post in Winslow where he often played pool with his friends and was also a member of the Bourque-Lanigan American Legion Post of Waterville.
He was predeceased by his parents; his brother Bernard; and two of his sisters, Carmeline Rodrigue and Delores Mattson.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille; his son, Robert, and his partner, Tammy Card; his daughter, Kathy, and husband Rene Desrosiers; his grandson, Ryan and wife Crystal, of Grand Junction, Colo.; his sister, Ann Simmons of Augusta; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Carroll worked in sales in both Waterville and Augusta. In Waterville, he started as a salesperson at Wilson and Co., then as an account executive at WFAU radio station in Augusta, as well as the Kennebec Journal. Just prior to retirement, Carroll worked as a custodian at Waterville High School. He enjoyed attending athletic events with his wife, Lucille, to support the students he saw daily in his work. Carroll was a lifelong communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Waterville and later St. John the Baptist Church in Winslow.
At Carroll's request, there will be no public visiting hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be held in his honor at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, at St. John the Baptist Church in Winslow. Committal prayers and military honors will be held later at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Moiunt Vernon Road, in Augusta.
His family would like to thank all those who cared for him during these past two years at Seaside Nursing Center. We are grateful for the care and compassion shown to him by staff as well as those who supported him through the hospice program. In addition, we are grateful for the many years of care given to him by Dr. John Burke of Mid-Maine Internal Medicine in Vassalboro.
Donations to the Winslow Athletic Program may be made in Carroll's memory. Arrangements were made through the Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville.

I knew Mr. Morrissette when I attended Waterville High. I was always around after school for extra curricular activities like band and drama practice. Yes, I was on of the geeks, but he always had a smile and kind word. He was always at the football games...he actually gave me a copy of a picture he took of me in the marching band. He was very sweet and I always made sure to talk with him. I am sorry to hear of his passing. I still have very fond memories of Carroll. He and his family will be in my prayers.
