Catherine Marie McKay
1940 - 2018
CHELSEA - Catherine Marie McKay, 78, of Chelsea, died at her home Thursday May 24, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was born in Augusta on April 22, 1940, a daughter of Chester and Mary Hutchinson.
Catherine was a graduate of Cony High School and had been employed for over 30 years at Augusta News Company. She was an active 22 year member of the American Legion Smith Wiley Post 4 Auxiliary in Gardiner. She enjoyed camping, gardening, arts and crafts. She was very talented.
Catherine was predeceased by her parents; and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband Bob McKay of Chelsea; two daughters Holly Cummings and husband Red of Sidney, Tammy Jeannotte; granddaughter Stacy Jeannotte of Windsor; two great-grandchildren, Cali Austin and Parker Maxim of Windsor; and several nieces and nephews.
A big thank you to MaineGeneral Hospice for their incredible care given and to Tammy Jackson for her care and compassion given.
A graveside committal will be held Tuesday, June 5, at 2 p.m. at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Rd. in Augusta. A celebration of her life will follow at the American Legion Post 4, 46 Griffin St., in Gardiner.
