David DuBois Obituary

David E. DuBois
1971 - 2015
WATERVILLE - With such sadness our hearts weigh heavy as we mourn the loss of a beautiful, kind soul. On Oct. 4, 2015 David E. DuBois, 43, from Waterville passed away unexpectedly from a tragic motor vehicle accident in West Forks, Maine. David was born in Waterville on Dec. 17, 1971. From that moment on, he brought joy into the lives of all who knew him, especially his mother and father. As a child he excelled in ice hockey and passed this love and talent onto his son Thorn, the light of his life.
David loved riding BMX bikes as a child and his motorcycle as an adult.
Throughout his life he grew to love fishing and hunting. His grandparents land in Unity and their camp on Brassua Lake in Rockwood, where he would fish and hunt, were very dear to his heart. Above all was David's love for his son Thorn. Every minute with Thorn was a precious gift. Trips to Disney, Six Flag's, hockey tournaments and many fishing adventures were highlights of their time together. David loved playing bingo and going to the casino with hopes of winning it BIG. As a young adult he worked at Huhtamaki and as a massage therapist. David's faith was very important to him. He felt at peace while going to church or spending time at the Blessed Sacrament.
David is survived by his mother and father, Annette and Lawrence DuBois; his sisters and their husbands, Julie and Gary King and Sherry and Jody Pelotte; his nieces Keira King and Annalisa Pelotte, his nephews, Ryan King and Tanner Pelotte; many aunts and uncles; cousins, many friends; and his best friend, his son, Thorn. He is predeceased by his grandparents Juliette and Wilfred Quirion and Anita and Edward DuBois.
There will be no visiting hours. A mass to celebrate David's life will be held at St John's Church in Winslow on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015 at 11:00 am.
Arrangements are under the care of Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm Street, Waterville. An online guestbook may be signed and condolences may be expressed at www.gallantfh.com.

In lieu of flowers, please send any gifts or donations made out to Winslow Federal Credit Union on behalf of the David DuBois memorial fund for his son, Thorn

I went to Waterville High School with David, watched him play hockey. Later I got to know him through mutual friends and always loved it when I saw him. His genuineness and kind-heartedness is rare. He always made me feel special and important. He was a "Christine fan" of which there haven't always been many;) I think everyone wants to know that they have made a difference in a life and touched someone's soul in a deep and unique way before they leave this earth. Dave, you did that for me and I thank you. Your kind words were a blessing to me. I hope you knew that. See you someday my friend:)

I knew David when I was a kid and he was my cousin Joey's best friend growing up. I always thought David was a real nice guy and could see why Joe liked him so much. Last year I ran into David at the rink in Augusta and talked with him for while about hockey, his son and other stuff. I told David it was really nice to see him and hoped to see him more often in the future. This morning my Aunt told me about the terrible accident and I was crushed. It is terrible that this had to happen to such a great guy. God knew how great he was and wanted him there with him. Will miss you bud. Jeff

Dave and I were great friends in high school, were teammates on the high school hockey team back in the day, and I have known his family for a long time. What I remember most about him is the positive way he always seemed to touch the people that came in contact with him. I guess that's why we became such good friends. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. I will always remember the great times we had on and off the ice. You will be missed my friend. Make sure to save me a cold one for when we meet again.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. Thorn, be strong young man. Everytime you feel the beat of your heart, remember your Dad. He is part of you. Look at your hands and fingers, he is part of you, when you dress for hockey covering your legs and feet and move along the ice smooth and quick like your Dad, he is part of you. He is Always with you!
