Eugene Hutchins Obituary
2014
NORTH ANSON - Eugene, better known as "Hoffer" Hutchins, departed this world early in the morning of June 29, 2014. Hoffer was survived by his two children, Jennifer Oakes, of Whitefield, and Mathew Hutchins, of Alvin, Texas; two grandchildren, Alexander and Jayda; and six siblings, Harold Obert, Bertrum Hutchins Jr., Douglas Hutchins, Darlene Hutchins, Charlie Hutchins and Lisa Hutchins. He was predeceased by his parents, Bertrum and Theresa Hutchins; and siblings Jerome Hutchins and Doreen Garland.
Hoffer was raised by his grandparents, Philip and Marie Obert, who greatly influenced him to become the memorable soul he was. Hoffer was a man of many talents, a jack of all trades and a friend to many. He passes his vast knowledge and skills to his children. In turn, Jennifer gave him grandchildren whom he loved and adored. Mathew introduced him to the world of horses, a love and passion they both shared from that day forward.
Hoffer loved many and was loved by many more. Family and friends will always remember him as a dedicated hard working man, an intelligent man, and a man who loved to have a good time. He was a member of the Elk's Club, United Bikers of Maine and was a Jeep enthusist.
Burial will be at 4 p.m. July 20 at Sun View Cemetery in Norridgewock, followed by a farewell party in Hoffer's memory at 5 p.m. at the Skowhegan Elk's Club. All are welcome to come share the love and memories he left and celebrate the life of this amazing man.

The last time Gene was here; we were walking around the property planning a new deck and putting a shed on the back of the Garage. Linda (my late wife) refused to call him "Hoofer". They became friends while Gene worked here. She even got him to sit down and have tea and muffins. Although we knew Gene for a very short time (2013-2014); he was "family" to us. Gene once shaved for an event; when he stopped by the house (with a suit on); I told him he was twin to Dennis the police chief (from "First Blood"). Linda would ask Gene to do something unusual in the house as we remodeled; then say "can you do it?". Gene would say "look at my truck"; which had on the door; "We can do anything." Gene was definitely "one of a kind" and I still miss him.

Hoffer Hoffer Hoffer where do I start? He was a man with a big heartand would help most anyone. He had a big smile and laugh when you saw his smile or heard his laugh it was going to be a goodtime. He knew everyone and the ones he didn't know knew of him and had good words about him. He was a ladies man and knew lots of them and faithful to one. When I heard the news when I was in California my heart sank thinking this cant be true and he did not leave us the way that I had heard. Hoffer you were always around and willing to help work adventure bike ride etc. You will be missed by so many my friend. Be good on the other side if not be good at what you do. Till we all meet again you'll never be forgotten.

Hoffer you were going to come by and see me on Saturday but some thing came up and you texted me saying you would have to come by to see me Sunday. You never showed up. In the fourteen years we have been friends this is the first and only time you didn't show up without a text saying so. I knew something was wrong. I hope God had a good reason for taking you from us. You will be missed by all good friend. I will see you again when God takes me.I know you are up there watching out for us all your family and friends. RIP old friend and know I miss you.

We met you about a year and half ago, you became a part of our lives. Every room we
go into you are a part of it. You did so much for us we will never forget. How do we say
Bye to someone who became part of this house (and us.) Too young, to sweet to leave this earth;
but I'm sure we'll meet again and we hope you have your tools with you because you're not

Seems like yesterday that this kid Hoofa came along with us to climb Mt. Katahdin .. till the rangers kicked us out saying we hadn't made a reservation and the trail was booked.
Seems like yesterday ... but you guys had just moved up to Maine from Woonsocket. How long ago??
