Evelyn Lewis Obituary
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty four years, J. Earl Lewis, and her only child, Ella Jean Lewis.
She received her A.B. degree from Meredith College, Secretarial Certificate from Smith-Deal Massey Business College, and did graduate work at George P. Body College in Nashville, Tennessee. She taught at Coopers School until her marriage on June 7, 1947. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Rocky Mount for over sixty years.
Graveside rites will be held at 11:30a.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Pineview Cemetery with Rev. Bill Grisham officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Ella Jean Lewis Scholarship fund at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC 27804, is in charge of the arrangements.
