Frederick Graves Obituary
1932 - 2016
BRADENTON, Fla. - Frederick J. Graves, Colonel, USAF Medical Service Corps (Ret.), of Bradenton, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2016. Son of the late Kermit and Catherine Graves, he is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Norma; son, Greg; brothers, Thomas and Peter; sister, Ann; numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Lewiston, Fred graduated from Skowhegan High School, as president of the Class of 1950. He entered active duty in June of 1956 as a 2nd Lt. at Scott AFB Medical Center. He retired with the rank of Colonel as administrator of Scott AFB Medical Center, the same base where his career began, after 26 years of active duty.
His decorations include the Air Force Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Legion of Merit. Colonel Graves was actively involved, and held positions in several national and local organizations serving active duty, former, and retired military.
He was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Parish in Bradenton.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on June 17 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradenton; a reception followed. Inurnment was June 20, at the Sarasota National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory, Bradenton. Fla. Condolences may be made to: www.brownandsons funeral.com

Norma, I am so sorry to hear of Fred's passing. I just learned of it today. I always valued Fred's friendship as we both went through leadership positions in MOWW. I will certainly miss his pleasant smile and patriotic enthusiasm at future MOWW conventions. Please know that you are in Glenda & my prayers.

Fred Graves and I were daily correspondents by EMAIL. While I did not know him from very much personal contact, I felt like he was one of my best friends because of his daily communications. May he rest in peace and his family be blessed with the Grace of our Lord.

Norma, Walter and I were saddened to learn of Fred's passing, but grateful that we could administer the Eucharist to him and to you in his last hours. He was "a good and faithful servant" to his God, his country and his family!
