Gilbert Beliveau Obituary

AUGUSTA -- Gilbert Beliveau passed away peacefully Sunday, May 8, 2011, at the Gray Birch nursing facility in Augusta. He was born in Lewiston on May 12, 1932, the son of Dr. Romeo and Jean Beliveau.

Mr. Beliveau attended St. Dominic High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army upon graduation, where he served during the Korean conflict. Later he attended St. Anselm College and the University of Maine. He lived in Jay for many years, raising four sons. He was employed as a teacher, small business manager/owner and salesperson.

In 1992, he was married to Janet Nelson. They made their home in West Gardiner until her passing in 2009. In his later years, Gilbert enjoyed following Boston sports teams, talking to his sister, visits from grandchildren and his pet birds.

Mr. Beliveau is survived by his sister, Joline Cronin, of Brunswick; and four sons, Scott and Mary Ann of Falmouth, John of Long Beach, Calif., Paul and Diane of Gorham, and Robert and Christie of Jay; and five grandchildren.

At Mr. Beliveau's request, a private memorial will be held. The family would like to thank the staff at MaineGeneral and Gray Birch for their caring and support of our father during his final days.
