Glen Donker Obituary

MONMOUTH -- Glen R. Donker, 58, of Monmouth, formerly of West Caldwell, N.J., died June 11, 2005, at St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, N.J.

He was born in Glen Ridge, N.J., and lived in West Caldwell before moving to Monmouth five years ago.

He was a 1969 graduate of Parsons College, Fairfield, Iowa, with a bachelor's degree in business.

Mr. Donker was a West Caldwell police officer for 26 years before retiring in 1996 as a lieutenant. While a police officer, he worked part time at Valley National Bank, West Caldwell, and for Broheimer Tree Service, Roseland, N.J.

After his retirement, he worked part time with Federal Express in New Jersey and Maine.

He served in the New Jersey National Guard, Riverdale, N.J., from 1969 to 1975; and he was a retired member of the West Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department.

He was a member of the West Essex PBA Local 81.

He was the beloved husband of Nancy (Klimback) Donker; devoted father of David (Barbara) Glen of Parsippany, N.J., and Corbett K. (Erika), Rebecca (Chris) and Joshua, all of Caldwell, N.J.; cherished grandfather of Brody; loving brother of Deborah Donker of Caldwell and Carol Mulvaney (William) of Port Murray, N.J.; and devoted brother-in-law of Jim (Jackie) and Thomas J. Klimback.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, 326 Bloomfield Ave., Caldwell. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Dancy Funeral Home, 9 Smull Ave., Caldwell. Interment will be private.

Services in Maine will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Caldwell Police Department Sunshine Fund, 21 Clinton Road, West Caldwell, NJ 07006.

Nancy, I am so sorry to hear of Glenns passing. I found out by accident, was looking for you all in NJ last year, no luck. Glenn was such a good guy, did not know him well, my loss, but thought you two were great together. My prayers are with you, contact me if you wish. [email protected]
