Jean was born in Guaico, Trinidad, BWI, to Dr. Rev. George and Sadie Murray on Sept. 23, 1931.
Jean completed her education at Edgehill School for Girls, Windsor, Nova Scotia, then went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mount Allison University in English literature with a minor in music, where she met her husband Robert Anthony Robinson. They were married on Dec. 25, 1952, in Westfield, NB, by her father and later moved to Bathurst, New Brunswick, where they had four children.

Jean was predeceased by her husband, Robert Anthony "Tony" Robinson; her son, David Anthony Robinson; and her granddaughter, Kimberly Megan Dawn MacLellan. Jean is survived by her daughters, Heather J. MacLellan (Alex) Prescott, Ontario, and Pamela A. Blake (Steven), Oakland, Maine; and her son, Robert P.
