Ida Coombs Obituary

BRUNSWICK -- Ida A. Coombs, 79, of Old Bath Road died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at a Brunswick hospital.

She was born in Harmony on April 13, 1928, a daughter of George and Ina (Skillins) Campbell.

She attended Harmony schools and Oakland High School. She was employed at Diamond National toothpick factory in Oakland and volunteered at Togus where she met her husband, Robert King. They lived in Augusta, Brunswick and later in Bath. She was then employed at Scott Paper in Waterville and Freeport Shoe in Freeport. In 1975 she married Robert D. Coombs.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, her pets and dancing.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Robert King on Sept. 22, 1972; her second husband, Robert D. Coombs on April 15, 1989; and three brothers, Harold Campbell, Carl Campbell and Reginald Campbell.

She is survived by two sons, Jeffery King and his wife, Betty, of Lewiston, and Robert King and his wife, Stacey, of Bowdoinham; one daughter, Victoria Haines and her husband, Dean, of Bath; one sister, Grace Witham and her husband, Burton, of Fairfield; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bath in the spring.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086-1240.

Arrangements are by Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High St., Bath.
