Imelda Butler Obituary

AUGUSTA -- Imelda G. Butler, 90, died Saturday, May 14, 2011, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center, Gray Birch, following a long illness.

She was born in Augusta on March 26, 1921, a daughter of the late Thomas and Clara (Bilodeau) Giroux.

Mrs. Butler was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Augusta.

She had been employed by the State of Maine for several years and also by Bates Manufacturing, Edwards Division, for more than 15 years.

Mrs. Butler was predeceased by her husband, James Butler, and two sons, Robert and Raymond Butler.

She is survived by a son, Richard G. Butler and his wife Patricia of Richmond, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

At her request there will be no public visiting hours. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, in Holy Family Cemetery, Townsend Road, Augusta.

Those who desire may make donations in her memory to: Kennebec Valley Humane Society, Pet Haven Lane, Augusta, ME 04330.

Arrangements are under the direction of Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta.

To the family of Imelda Butler: I am so very sorry for your loss. I have been taking care of Imelda for going on three years. She was a wonderful resident here at Gray Birch. I know I am not alone when saying she will surely be missed by all. God Bless you and your family. And God rest Imelda.
