June Tibbetts Obituary

WHITEFIELD -- June "Ruth" Hope Rollins Tibbetts, 88, of Whitefield passed away Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta Campus.

She was born in Richmond on April 13, 1922, the daughter of Joseph and Bertha (Brewer) Rollins. She attended Augusta schools and lived most of her life in Augusta and Whitefield.

June was a hard worker, holding at least two jobs at a time. She was employed at Catherine's Candy Shop while in school and later at the State Restaurant, Sportsman's Grill, Island Park, Mike's Lunch, Bernard's Foodland, Mister Market and in payroll at Hallowell Shoe Co.

She enjoyed traveling to Colorado to visit family and loved to bake cookies for family and friends. She spent many hours knitting and crocheting and creating crafts. She was particularly known for her knitted cotton dishcloths.

June was a very sweet, kind and thoughtful person who brought joy to everyone she met.

She was predeceased by her parents; her first husband, Phillip Arbour, with whom she had her daughter; her second husband, Harry Tibbetts; brothers Llewellyn "Tom" Rollins and his wife, Elizabeth, William Rollins and his wife, Lena, and Lenwood Rollins and his wife, Mary; a sister, Isabel Lockhart; and sister-in-law Beverly Rollins.

June is survived by her loving daughter, Patricia Alles and husband, Gerald, of Greeley, Colo.; a brother, Larry Rollins of Lady Lake, Fla.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

At June's request, there will be no services.

I have fond memories of "Footie'. I met her on a trip to Maine with my aunt, Marjory Brewer Wilkerson, I was 14-15 years old, but she was so sweet to my sister and me. She is in God's hands and will know peace and comfort forever.
