1952 - 2015
AUGUSTA - Karen J. Chamblee, 63, died on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015, at the Alfond Center for Health, following a brief illness. She was born in Jefferson, on May 1, 1952, the daughter of the late Leon and Nathalie (Bond) Chamblee.
Ms. Chamblee was a graduate of Lincoln Academy and had been employed by the Augusta Mental Health Institute for over 20 years. She also enjoyed doing artwork and writing poetry.
She is survived by her son, Nathaniel L. Chamblee and his fiancé Sara Harkness of Augusta; two brothers, Michael Chamblee of Oregon, and John Chamblee of Berwick; as well as several nieces, nephews; and cousins.
At her request, there will be no funeral services. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Thursday, Dec. 3, starting at 10 a.m. at the home of her son, Nate, 50 Mt. Vernon Ave., Apt. 3, Augusta. Arrangements are under the direction of Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. Condolences, photos and memories may be shared at www.plummerfh.com
