1997-2014
WINTHROP - Kelsey Ann Stoneton, 17, of Winthrop passed away peacefully on August 2, 2014 surrounded by loving family and friends.
Kelsey was born March 8, 1997 at Inland Hospital in Waterville, the daughter of Joel and Kim (Gould) Stoneton.
Kelsey was a fantastic athlete, an honor student, an incredibly beautiful girl inside and out. Kelsey's smile is what everyone remembers about her. That smile was contagious, that smile lit up a room, that smile made everyone's day brighter and better. Kelsey had a work ethic not found in teenagers these days, she set goals and worked hard to achieve those goals. Kelsey couldn't make her parents any prouder of her than they are. To know Kelsey was to love Kelsey.
Kelsey was predeceased by her Papa Stephen Gould.
Kelsey was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by her parents, Joel and Kim Stoneton; sister and best friend, Haley Margaret Stoneton; stepmother, Holly Lachance and stepsisters, Heidi and Hayley Lachance; and family friend Corey Rubchinuk, all of Winthrop; grandparents Jim Stoneton, Darlene Bassett, Sally Viodek; Uncle James and Aunt Ginger Stoneton and cousins Abby & Juliet; Uncle Jonathan and Aunt Angela Valvano and cousins Hannah, Maggie, Grace, and Alletta; Uncle Michael and Aunt Sarah Hebert and cousin Wade; Uncle Jon and Aunt Sanda Barry and cousins Anna and Sara.
The family invites relatives and friends to visit Wednesday, August 6, 2014 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop.
A Celebration of Kelsey's life will be held Thursday, August 7th at 11:00 a.m. at the Hope Baptist Church, Route 202, Manchester with a reception immediately following in the church's fellowship hall. Burial will be in Glenside Cemetery, Turkey Lane, Winthrop immediately following the reception.
Donations in Kelsey's memory be made to the Kelsey Stoneton Memorial Fund, c/o Winthrop Area Federal Credit Union, PO Box 55, Winthrop, ME 04364.
A basket will be available at the funeral home for anyone who would like to share written memories of Kelsey with her family. Memories, condolences, photos and videos may also be shared with the family on the obituary page of our website at www.khrfuneralhomes.com.

The last time I saw Kelsey I caught her eye and she gave me that beautiful smile everyone is talking about so much. I barely knew her, but I remember thinking, wow that girl seems really friendly. Now I wish I had said something to her. Thoughts and much love with the family and close friends.

Joel, Kim, Haley ... Our family sends its deepest condolences to yours. It is hard to find the words and impossible to understand how this could happen. I have been impacted by Kelsey myself. She was our waitress a few weeks ago at Fast Eddie's and I indeed remember that vibrant smile and the very kind hearted waitress she was!!! I am glad to have had her as our waitress and am very sorry for your loss. Knowing how she impacted my life, I can only imagine the impact of those that she was around daily!! Kelsey, I may not have know you personally, but that one time, I feel I was touched by a very wonderful person and I will always remember that.

Kim, my heart goes out to you & your family. I met Kelsey 3 weeks ago at Fast Eddies and immediately liked her. She loved my lab I had with me and brought him doggie treats. I made sure to get her as my waitress when I went there. Her smile was beautiful and from that I could sense that she was a wonderful beautiful young lady. May her spirit always be with you. I never knew Kelsey personally, only through mutual interests. Her smile was one I always envied. I cannot explain how much this has shaken me, and the public outcry has only made me realize how amazing she must have been.
