He was born in Bucksport on Jan. 9, 1916, the son of Les and Agnes (Bulduc) Cunningham.
He married Rachel A. Small in January 1937. He held many jobs to support his family during the depression. He was a Marine, serving his country during World War II. He drove a wholesale delivery truck for Harris Bakery for 38 years. After retirement, he and his beloved wife would spend their summers camping at the Forks and fishing on Moxie and Indian Ponds, taking their grandchildren with them. He made lifetime memories those wonderful fun-filled summers. He always had a story to tell about his trips hunting and fishing. He truly enjoyed his retirement, being the outdoors man that he was. In winters, he would be out plowing his many driveways in the areas of Oakland, Sidney and Rome. He was in his 90s when he finally had to give up those driveways.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Rachel A. Cunningham of Sidney; his children, Kathleen L. Wrigley and her husband, Byron, of Oakland, Kenneth L. Cunningham Jr. and his wife, Iva, of Oakland, Thomas L. Cunningham and his wife, Roberta, of Oakland, Linda J. Estes and her husband, Galen, of Oakland, Dorothy M. Shuman and her husband, Steven, of Sanford and Ruth A. Cunningham of Sidney; 20 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his faithful dog, Baby Boo Boo.
Besides his parents, Les and Agnes Cunningham, he was predeceased by a sister, Jean Verrill; two brothers, Robert and Maxwell Cunningham; a daughter Patricia Glidden; and many friends.
Visiting hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14, at Wheeler Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Oakland. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 15, at Blessed Hope Advent Christian Church, 10 Pleasant St., Waterville, where he was a member for 74 years. Burial will follow at the Lewis Cemetery in Oakland.

I remember my great grandparents taking me under their wing and trying to teach me about life on the farm. Such a sweet memory. My great grandfather will be truly missed. He was so blessed with a long and healthy life full of family. May the love and kindness he gave bless him in the afterlife. You will always be remembered because you have touched the lives of others. God Bless.
