Larry Paradis Obituary

1942-2014

RAYMOND - Larry Kenneth Paradis, 72, of Raymond, died on Sunday, Sept 28, 2014.

Larry Paradis was born in Waterville on June 6, 1942, to Anthony and Florence (Vigue) Paradis.

Larry graduated from Winslow High School in 1960 and was enrolled in the USAF from 1961 to 1965, where he trained as a jet mechanic. He married Sandra Ronco in 1967, and the two remained the closest of companions throughout each others' lives. Sandra was beside him, holding his hand, when he passed peacefully from his battle with cancer.

Larry retired from Huhtamaki Inc. (formally Keyes Fibre) of Waterville, after 45 years, as the Lead Mechanic in Lamination. He loved woodworking in his shop, bird watching from his front porch, watching the Red Sox and Patriots on tv and jitterbugging with Sandra in the kitchen.

Known as a hard-working, generous and devoted father, he leaves behind three daughters, Joy Mazziotti, of South Portland, Shellie Paradis, of Norway, and Lesley Nawfel, of Poland. To "his girls," who he loved and adored, Larry was a father who no one could ever hold a candle to. This proud "pepere" is survived by his 10 grandchildren, Brooks, Sophie, Nate, Libby, Sam, Meghan, Tony, Jack, Joe and Abbey. He is also survived by his older sister, Patricia Pelletier, of Winslow; and many nieces and nephews.

A man with a strong work ethic, sense of humor and an unequivocal love for his family, Larry will be greatly missed.

A memorial Mass will be held October 10, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 26 Monument Street, Winslow.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations be made to Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, 236 Stetson St., Auburn, ME 04210.

Larry was the worlds greatest Dad and always loved Sandra. He was also a good friend and left me with many great memories. Once while he and I were talking we were approached by someone who said to Larry. You two have known each other for a long time, hun? Larry replied, oh ya we went to different schools together. Thanks for the memories my friend. Rest in peace.

My wife and I were very sorry to read about the passing of Larry. Larry and I were friends when we were in the armed service, he was in the AF and I was in the Army. We would come home at Christmas time and go out with each other. Larry was best man at my wedding and I was an Usher in his. We worked at different mills and always stayed friends. Larry was a great guy and will be missed by all who knew him. We will say a prayer for him and the family

Larry, you always waited, worried anxious if I were late, which I probably was. In the winter you would stand outside in the drive, all bundled up! In warmer months, in your Bean rocker on the porch.
Yours thoughts were always for your family, without exception.
Not once in 48 yrs did you forget to watch for me...not once..
And--so I know, from Heaven Above you'll be waiting for us..however long it takes.
What it means for me to lose you Larry,no one will ever know..Rest in Peace until we meet again, yours, sandra

I remember that every time my dad would see him, as we left he would always say how much respect, and admiration he had for him. In my dad's eyes Larry was a great, great man. In mine he was an awesome dad, always smiling and loving to his family and all. My heart goes out to all of you. He will forever be in your hearts and keeping an eye on his grandchildren knowing him :) My deepest sympathies to you all.

Larry was a great Father and Grandfather. He most certainly set the standard we should all hope to achieve as parents and grand parents. His love, devotion and total commitment to his "Girls" was unconditional and an inspiration to those of us who witnessed it.

Throughout his life Larry could always be depended on to be "there" whenever needed no matter the time, place or circumstances and will be greatly missed.

Rest in peace.
