Born in Waterville July 23, 1933, she was the daughter of Eva Cote. She lived most her her life in Waterville and Augusta. She worked many different jobs over the course of her life, as a nurse's aide, waitress, receptionist, secretary, store clerk, but the role she cherished was as mother to her five children and grandmother to her eight grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Alan Loisel, in 1983, and her siblings May Zimba, Barbara Webster, Butch Poulin and Lawrence Cote. She is survived by her children, Tim Loisel of Vermont, Dan Loisel of Texas and wife Kathy Loisel, Michaela Loisel of Hallowell, and Laurie Loisel and partner Lydia Rackenberg of Massachusetts. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Abby and Emily Macomber Loisel, Simon and Sydney Rakenberg-Loisel, Sam Byrd, Ben and Max Keene and Ema Cole.
She was also loved by friends Leslie Manning of Hallowell, Donald Macomber of Hallowell, and her former husband, Paul Loisel, of Augusta.
The staff at Mount St. Joseph made the final decade of her life immeasurably richer, caring for her with love, affection and professionalism that her family deeply appreciates. The other residents of Keystone unit were like family to her, especially Marcia and Brian, and Theresa. The care given by Beacon Hospice, especially Michelle, made Marlene's death a gentle transition.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Keystone unit's activity fund at Mount St. Joseph, 7 Highwood Ave., Waterville, Maine, which organized many activities that delighted Marlene over the years. A memorial service is being planned for July 16 at 2 p.m. at a location to be announced.

My sincerest sympathy to Marlene's family.
I hope you remember the good times with her and that it helps you through this time of loss.
I have thought of about you often through the years but did not know how to get in contact; But it is a small world after all.
I saw Marlene a few years ago at the Mount when I was in Maine on vacation(with Nicole) and I would of recognized her anywhere! She did not change even with all of her life's struggles.
Butch now has his sisters with him and they are probably celebrating. I hope they are and I wish her family the best.
