Maurice Jackson Obituary
He was born in Hallowell, Oct. 9, 1941, the son of Levi and Madeline Jackson.
Maurice was a member of the Gardiner Sportsman's Club, Augusta Elks Lodge and the Maine State Employee Association.
He enjoyed playing cards, watching baseball and hunting with his co-workers.
Maurice retired after 25 years at the Augusta Mental Health Institute, where he worked as a mental health worker.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1963-67.
He is survived by his lifelong partner, Claire Jackson; his sons, Raymond Vaillancourt and his wife, Angel, of Chelsea, and Allen Vaillancourt, of Vassalboro; his daughters, Suzanne Marois, of South China, and Mary Ann Smart and her fiancé, Darryl Leclair, of Vassalboro; his brothers, David Jackson Sr., of Vassalboro, Levi Jackson Jr. and his wife, Ingrid, of Sidney, and Millard Jackson and his wife, Natalie, of Whitefield; his sister, Amelia "Amy" White and her husband, Robert "Bob", of Clinton; his grandchildren, Jessica Vaillancourt, Emily and Kevin Marois, Nicholas Smart, Robert Smith, Cory Smith Jr., Kristina Vaillancourt and Tyler Vaillancourt; along with several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Simon.
No service will be held at this time. A spring graveside service will be held at Hallowell Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kennebec Valley Humane Society, 10 Pet Haven Lane, Augusta, ME 04330; or St. Jude's Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
