WATERVILLE - Michael Paul Denis Sr., 64, was called home to our Lord on Thursday, August 31, 2017, at his Waterville home with his loving, devoted family by his side after a short courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Waterville on December 27, 1952, the son of Wilfred and Helen (Kenniston) Denis. He grew up at the Head of Falls in Waterville, and graduated from Waterville Senior High School in 1972.
Michael was a master carpenter, and hard-working man who took great pride in his work by adding a creative loving touch to everything he built. Michael adored spending time with his loving family enjoying gatherings, watching tv, dancing, singing and camping. He was a fan of playing and watching sports. His favorite teams were the New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, and Red Sox. He was especially involved in supporting his daughter and son's athletics while they were growing up. Michael was his grandson Cameron's # 1 sports fan, and he treasured watching his granddaughter Alice dance, and listen to her sing. Michael loved, and took enormous pride in building houses, decks, sheds, rooms, and many other special projects for his family, friends, and neighbors.
Michael is predeceased by his parents, Wilfred and Helen Denis; grandmother Agnus Kenniston.
Michael is survived by the love of his life, high school sweetheart, wife Margaret (Peggy) Denis of 45 years. They were married in Waterville on June 24, 1972. Michael will also be lovingly remembered by his daughter Melissa Denis of Waterville; son Michael Denis Jr. and companion Brooke Chapman of Benton; grandchildren Cameron and Alice Denis; brothers Ronald Denis and wife Terry of Las Vegas, Larry Denis and wife Lynne of Arizona, and Steve Denis of Waterville; sisters Mary Dyke and husband Gary of Lewiston, Nancy Wilmot and husband Peter of Massachusetts, Debbie Trepanier of Winslow, Susan Coates and husband Ed of Albion; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
The Denis Family would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the Hospice Staff for the care and compassion given to all of us during this time.

It broke our hearts to see you go,

You did your best for all of us,

In tears we watched you sinking,
We watched you fade away,

we miss you,
In our home that is lonely today.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, September 5, from 5-8 p.m. at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, Fairfield, where words of remembrance will be shared at 6:30 p.m. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, September 16, at 5 p.m. at the Winslow Veterans of Foreing Wars, Post 8835, 175 Veteran Drive, Winslow, ME 04901.
