Peter White Obituary

FAIRFIELD -- Peter R. White passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 22, 2008, in the loving arms of his partner at his home in Fairfield, after a brief illness.

Peter was born Jan. 3, 1953, in Waterville, the son of the late Edgar and Georgianna (Jerome) White. He graduated from Waterville High School, class of 1972, and was employed by Huhtamaki as a lead man in the production department.

He loved playing the guitar and singing, as well as camping, fishing, and woodworking. He also enjoyed spending time with his dogs, Molly and Angel.

Peter was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Vernon and Richard White; sisters, Lillian Paquette, Joyce Hunter, and Vera West; and stepmother, Eva (Mace) White.

He leaves to cherish his memories his loving partner, Mary Jane Cobb; and two daughters, Heather (White) Ballard of Augusta and Lisa White of Ohio.

He is also survived by one sister, Vanda Martin and her companion, Bruce Young; two brothers, Donald White and his wife, June, of Fairfield, and Patrick Michael White and his wife, Patricia, of Cortez, Colo.; stepchildren, Debra Remmers and her husband, Michael, of Fairfield, Billy Cobb and his wife, Martha, of Fairfield, and Michelle Vintiner and her husband, Ralph, of Belgrade; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will take place from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Fairfield Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Gosslin for his care and compassion during this difficult time and also special friend Michael Remmers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Peter's memory to Mary Jane Cobb, 29 Military Ave., Fairfield, ME 04937.

A special condolences on the death of Peter for sister Vanda. My first husband Karkie Brooks and I Geri left Hollyway Corner in Late June of 1955 when Peter was but a baby. We left for Calif. and returned many times my last time was in July and Aug of 2006 and after many years lost contact with the White family.So Vanda if you read this message I am sorry for your lost.

I worked with Peter for many years at Keyes Fibre. He was a terrific person to work with and know. Peter was always very polite and kind. He will be missed.

My deepest sympathies to Peter's family on his passing. I went to High School with Peter and were good friends from then on. Only saw him occasionally during the last ten years, but we always were close in heart. My heart is very heavy today to see that he is gone. To a much better place I'm sure. Love always, Sandy
