Philip Weston Obituary

Philip Arthur Weston
1925 - 2016
LITCHFIELD - Philip Arthur Weston, 91, of Litchfield, passed peacefully at his home on Dec. 25, 2016, with his family at his side. Philip was born Feb. 21, 1925, to Philip T. Weston and Vivian Read Weston.
Philip was a lifelong resident of Litchfield. He attended the one-room schoolhouse on Stevenstown Road and later, Litchfield Academy.
Philip held many jobs during his life before settling on the family farm. He milked cows for many years, first with his father and then with his daughter. Some of his jobs included cutting ice on Pleasant Pond, driving trucks for Ernest M. Purington Trucking, hauling fertilizer across the state, the Worumbo Mill in Lisbon, and building a dairy barn and farming with his father.
Philip married Madelyn Barankovich on Oct. 13, 1953, and they had a daughter together.
They enjoyed vacationing every year in Canada, especially Prince Edward Island. Philip enjoyed all aspects of dairying, from milking to haying and spreading manure, into his 80s.
Philip was predeceased by his parents, his wife of 47 years, and a sister.
He is survived by his daughter, Anne Elizabeth Weston, and her partner, Lance Gatcomb; a special friend, Joan Gatcomb; special member of the family, Lance Gatcomb II, and wife Lilly Meehan Gatcomb; and several nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to Androscoggin Hospice and Home Care for their caring assistance at the end.

"I knew this was going to happen."

A memorial service will be held at Christ Church Episcopal in Gardiner, Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016, at 2 p.m. A burial will take place in the spring, on the family lot, at Litchfield Plains Cemetery.
