Rachel Danforth Obituary

Rachel Bernita Danforth
1958 - 2015
EAST WILTON - Rachel Bernita Danforth, 58, of East Wilton, died unexpectedly on Thursday, August 25, 2016, at Maine Medical Center in Portland surrounded by her family.
She was born on April 13, 1958 in Augusta, Maine, the daughter of Erland and Jean Danforth. She graduated from Mt. Blue High School in Farmington in 1977. She worked many years in the shoe industry in the Farmington and Wilton areas. She loved children and was a nanny and worked at a daycare. She also was an independent homecare provider.
She was a very active member of the East Wilton Union Church for many years and always spoke fondly of her church family. She enjoyed and was involved with the various events at the church. She especially took pleasure in being in the kitchen with her friends preparing refreshments or meals for various occasions. One of her favorite things she looked forward to was preparing for the yard sale the church put on once a year.
She took pleasure in crocheting, gardening, reading, being outdoors and really liked going to yard sales. She had a great love for dogs and had four of them over the years. Her first was Echo, then Benny, Daisy and her last one was Boots. Many people often saw her out walking with her 4-legged friends.
She is survived by her four brothers Joseph Gidney of Bushnell, Fla., Raymond Gidney and his wife Judy, of Waterville, Landy Danforth and his wife Debbie, of Castleton, Vt., and her twin, Richard Danforth and his wife Marly, of Unity; nephews and nieces, Adam, James, Karen, Chris, Austin, and Lindsy. Also, nephews Joshua and Brett who she had a very special relationship; they referred to lovingly as their 'Auntie'.
At the First Church of the Nazarene, 30 Nazarene Dr., Augusta, a Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. with a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. Burial will follow at the Rest Haven Cemetery in Windsor. Arrangements are under the care of Staples Funeral Home 53 Brunswick Ave Gardiner
