AUGUSTA - Rebecca L. M. Burdzel, age 60, died unexpectedly Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013 at her home. She was born in Augusta on Feb. 17, 1953, the daughter of Klemens and Patricia (Lucier) Burdzel.
Ms. Burdzel was a graduate of Cony High School, class of 1971, and earned a bachelors degree from the University of Maine, graduating summa cum laude.
She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Augusta.
Ms. Burdzel worked at doctors offices for most of her life, working for Dr.'s Daschlager, Sheean and Russell and finally with Dr. Daniel Clark.
Becky was an animal lover and had many cats throughout her life. She was someone who would not harm any living thing, including insects found around the home.
She was predeceased by her brother, Stephen Burdzel.
Ms. Burdzel is survived by her parents, Klemens and Patricia (Lucier) Burdzel, of Augusta, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Western Ave., Augusta. Burial and committal prayers will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Winthrop St., Augusta. In lieu of flowers, donations in Becky's memory may be made to: PALS Animal Shelter, 188 Case Road, Winthrop, ME, 04364.
Arrangements are under the care of Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta.
