Sean Brosnan Obituary

Sean S. Brosnan
1940 - 2017
AUGUSTA - Sean S. Brosnan, 76, peacefully passed away on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017, in the presence of loved ones. He was born in County Kerry, Ireland, on Dec. 22, 1940, the son of the late Michael and Margaret E. (O'Connor) Brosnan.
Sean earned his bachelor's degree in education from the University of Maine, and was a substitute teacher in the Augusta school system for several years.
He also owned and operated Brosnan's Upholstery for over 40 years.
Prior to moving to the United States, Sean was proud to have had the unique opportunity of being employed by Cambridge Scientific Instruments, working with cutting-edge scanning electron microscope technology.
One of his greatest joys was spending the summers camping in Acadia with his beloved wife, Margie. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and enjoyed travel and adventures -- usually at the drop of a hat.
Sean was a pillar and a lighthouse of good humor, for all who knew him. He will be fondly remembered for his quick wit, big heart, mischievous grin, and his appreciation for a piping hot cup of tea.
Sean was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Dolores (Choate) Brosnan; a brother, Michael Brosnan; and two sisters, Patricia Brosnan and Maura Griffin.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Brann) Brosnan, of Augusta; two sons: Brendan Brosnan and his wife Heather, of Bonney Lake, Wash.; and Brian Brosnan and his significant other, Marcia Bilyeu, of Seattle, Wash; his daughter, Kathleen Brosnan, of Hallowell; two brothers: Billy Brosnan and Timmy Brosnan, both of Ireland; three sisters: Kathleen Bowen, of Wales; Pauline Locke, of England; and Anne O'Sullivan, of Ireland; four grandchildren: Stephen, Christopher, Devon and Madeline Ann; his sister-in-law, Eileen Brosnan, of Ireland; a brother and sister-in-law, Everett and Shirley Brann, of East Winthrop; as well as many nieces, nephews and other loved ones.
At his request, there will be no public visiting hours or funeral service. A private Celebration of Life will be held for immediate family members, and burial will take place in the spring. Arrangements are under the direction of Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. Condolences, photos and memories may be shared at:

Dear Margaret, Brendan, Brian, Kathleen, and various added youngsters: We have fond memories of our times with the Brosnan family when our children were in school with all of you at St. Mary's. My relatives also were from County Kerry, so I felt right at home with Sean, with his Irish wit. Our deepest sympathy goes out to all of you. We are glad Sean lived to enjoy his grandchildren also. Thanks be to God for his many blessings.

sending you all much love and many prayers. Liz,and all the Gardella Family...Ed, and Tim and Kevin, and their families.
