Thomas A. Glavin
1949 - 2016
AUGUSTA - Thomas A. Glavin passed away on Jan. 13, 2016, at the Togus VA Hospital, with his family by his side, after a battle with cancer. He was born in Kansas City, Mo., on May 26, 1949, to John and Eleanor Glavin.
As we celebrate his life, we are grateful for the years with him, and the unconditional love and support he gave his family and friends. Tom will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
Tom joined the United States military at the age of 17, and spent two years in Vietnam as a member of the 82nd Airborne. Upon leaving the service he became an electrician and worked on power plants across the country.
On Sept. 6, 1981, Tom married Nancy Curtis, the love of his life. They traveled the country together before finally settling in Maine.
Tom enjoyed spending time with family, watching classic films, and reading his Bible everyday. Tom was a caring, good man with a big heart.
Tom is survived by his wife, Nancy; his three daughters, Veronica, Erin and Kelly; his son, Joe; six grandchildren; nephews and nieces and their families; as well as his two brothers, Dennis and Bob Glavin. He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Mel, Pat, John and Harry; and his sister, Jackie.
A memorial service will be held on Feb. 12, 2016, from 1-2 p.m. at the Togus VA Chapel.

Please accept my condolences at this difficult time. Tom was a good man with a great personality and sense of humor. I was saddened by his passing and was privileged to know him at Togus. I know he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Nancy, I am so sorry Tom is gone. He is missed so very much by all who knew him. I especially have missed you all so much over the years since you moved so far away. Tom was always my "baby brother" and I loved him too. I miss him as much as I miss Harry after all these years. Please contact me.

On the 13th of Jan I saw my dad take his last breath and I will never forget it. My dad was a very good man with the heart of gold, he was the kind of man that would give somebody his shirt if they needed it. So on the 13th the world lost a wonderful man, and I lost the best dad that a daughter could ever have and my daughters lost the best grandfather they could had. I will miss you very much dad and I love you with all my heart. I know that you will be watching over us and keep us safe and you will always be in my prayers and in my heart.

So sorry to hear about Tom's passing. he and Nancy had the nicest little restaurant in Chelsea. My husband Rick just loved his prime rib and no matter where he went to eat it never compared to Tom's.
