Yvonne Mitchell Obituary
1918 - 2017
SMITHFIELD - Born on June 13, 1918, to Frank Coro and Alphonsine (LeCours) Coro, Yvonne Mitchell died peacefully on June 15, 2017.
She worked many years as a beautician in Waterville and Smithfield. She was a hard worker and treasured her garden. Yvonne was also recognized by the Town of Smithfield for being the longest member of the Planning Board. In 2016 she received the Town's Golden Cane.
Yvonne is survived by her sons, James McClay III and wife Eleanor, Gary McClay and Alan Mitchell and his wife Patty all of Smithfield, her daughter Cynthia Weiss of Portland and former daughter- in-law Livia Leigh of Portland; her grandchildren, Johnna Haskell, Kirk Haskell, Christa Fairbanks, Christina McClay, Jodi Pelletier, James McClay IV, Brandi Emery and AJ Mitchell; several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Joseph; infant son Michael; and her brother and sister-in-law Frank and Rita Coro .
The family would like to thank the staff at Maplecrest Nuring Home in Madison for her care over the past two years, as well as, Beacon Hospice over the past few days.
A service will be held at the Veterans Memorial Cemetary in Augusta at a future date.

Such a sweet woman to me when I interviewed her for the town report a few years ago...she shared her photos, her stories and her smile. (I learned that Yvonne was a woman ahead of her time) Hugs to everyone in her family.

My condolences to Yvonne's family. She was my grandmother's hairdresser for many years, and we enjoyed visiting her when we were at our summer house on North Pond. She was a wonderful lady.

Yvonne became a good friend of mine in 1978. working 35 years for her, I heard a lot of good stories, and uncle Fred was the most talked about. Yvonne always remembered my birthday. she was like a mother, she cared. She was a very strong lady that stood the test of time. she will be missed. glad that I knew her

I first met Mrs. Mitchell when I had my Hardware store in Norridgewock , she and her brother came in a lot , they were always a pleasure to deal with, and later on I would stop and talk with her she would show me her garden, lawns and other projects, she was a hard worker and will be missed by many.
