Dear Christiane and family:My heart is so saddened to learn of "Als"passing. Although I have moved away from Auburn for many years, the true friendships remain in ones heart for ever & ever!I remember so vividly the first time I was introduced to my new doctor (Dr. Albert Shems).I was so impressed that I asked Al to be our factory doctor(Rangeley Heel Inc)as well as our family doctor as well! What a man, what a doctor, what a fantastic human being..I only wish I could had said good bye or perhaps thanks so much for your total friendship to me and my family.Yes i knew all of your family and each were so much like you Chris and you Al..yes my heart is so sadden by your family"s loss as well as my own.I look forward to one of these days meeting you again and rekindling our long lost relationship!!Rest in peace dear friend forever and a day.

My family moved to Main Street and lived 2 doors from Dr. Shem's. He did all my camp physicals and we would run over to his house if we had a scrape. I always loved, Mr. Bones. In fact, I became a physical therapist.
Through the years, we have kept in touch and he will be missed!
RIP Albert!

Dr. Shems was the first Dr I took my son to. That was 49 yrs ago. He was the best. RIP

I didn't know Dr. Shems as a physician, but I wish I had. I had the privilege of transporting him to some of his dialysis appointments. All I can say is that he was a truly lovely man. It was an honor to know him.
My deepest condolences to his family for your great loss.

I am saddened to hear about Dr. Shems passing. A kind and gentle man, who was a true professional. No matter the time of day, Dr Shems was always there for you. Thank you Dr. Shems for your service to the community of Lewiston.

Deepest condolences to The Shems family..Dr Shems was truly one of the "best physicians" of his time...the younger generation of physicians could take a lesson from him. He cared for and was loved by many members of my family....With loving rememberance ....Patt (Levasseur) Bergeron, RN

Mrs. Shems and Family,
I will pray for your family during this difficult time. I will ask God to give you comfort, strength, and peace.
Dr Shems had a way of making me smile; I loved his hugs! He certainly had a way of brightening up my day. I am so grateful for our friendship and will miss our visits very much.
