Alice Davies Obituary

Reverend Alice Hamilton Davies BRUNSWICK--The Reverend Alice Hamilton Davies, RN, BS, M. Div, A.P.C. of Brunswick, and Twilight Park, Haines Falls, N.Y. died Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Maine Medical Center. She was born in Englewood, N.J., March 18, 1921, the daughter of Herbert Mark and Esther (Wilmot) Price Hamilton. She was awarded an R.N. and B.S. from the School of Nursing, Columbia. After work in Memphis and at Riverside Church in NYC she earned an M. Div. degree from Union Theological Seminary in NYC and began work as a chaplain as a United Church of Christ minister. She married Dr. Dean Fletcher Davies on April 20, 1946. He died March 17, 2008. Alice and Dean made their home in Maine in the summer of 1992 to be near their children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children, David Hamilton Davies of Wiscasset, Nancy Fletcher Davies of Northampton, Mass., Susan Davies and her husband, David Halliwell of Clinton, and Beth (Davies) Young and her husband, Russell E. Young of Chelsea; and seven grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Herb and Kay Hamilton of Marietta, Ga. Services of remembrance and celebration will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sat. March 21, 2009 at First Parish Church, Maine St., Brunswick. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick.
