Annette Dube Obituary

Annette (Babineau) Dube, 85
SCARBOROUGH -- Annette L. Dube, 85, formerly of Sheltra Avenue in Biddeford, and Nalcrest, Fla., passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, surrounded by family at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
Annette was born on July 31, 1928, in Biddeford, the daughter of Frank and Clara Chantigny Babineau. At the young age of 12, Annette lost her mother to cancer.
Annette attended St. Andre School in Biddeford, and graduated from Biddeford High School in 1946. That same year she married Arthur A. Dube also of Biddeford, honeymooning in New York City and proceeded to settle in for their happy life, raising their family on Sheltra Avenue. Annette was a communicant of St. Andre's Church and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She volunteered at St. Andre's Group Home for Unwed Mothers and the Kimball Senior Center.
Annette was a stay at home mother while her children were young, but later she went to work in the cafeteria at Biddeford High School, making many lifelong friends during those 13 years.
Annette enjoyed attending sporting events, especially Biddeford High School football and baseball games, and also regular Saturday night card games with many wonderful friends.
After she and Arthur became winter residents of Nalcrest, Fla., in 1987, she became a big fan of shuffle board, bocce ball and attending Arthur's softball games. They also traveled around Florida in the 1980s and 90s to cheer for coach John Winkin's University of Maine baseball teams when the team traveled south for spring training. Besides traveling around Florida and enjoying the sites, Annette and Arthur travelled to New Orleans, Branson, Nashville, and San Francisco and took many cruises.
Annette was predeceased by her husband Arthur in 2010; and her only brother Denis Babineau in 2006. She is survived by her four children, Joyce Stephens and husband Jay of Dover, N.H., Donald Dube and wife Marianna of Unionville, Conn., Nancy Horne and husband Rob of Gorham, and Gary Dube and wife Candice of Gorham; six grandchildren and five great- grandchildren.
