    Murdock Jr., 80
     SCARBOROUGH -- Arthur Joseph Murdock Jr., 80, died at his home on July 25, 2007. Arthur was born in Portland on May 25, 1927. He was the son of Arthur J. Murdock Sr. and Alice (Hanrahan) Murdock. Arthur graduated form Cheverus High School in Portland.
     Arthur was married Dec. 26, 1945, to Margaret MacDonald. Arthur worked at Railway express before joining the Portland Police Department in 1952. He held many positions before retiring in 1976 with the rank of Sergeant.
     After retirement, Arthur worked for Maine Central Railroad. He worked for two years for the Railroad Police and then transferred to the Accounting department until 1986. Arthur was a member of the National Association of Police, The Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, Maine Association of Retirees, and the Maine Association of Police Retirees. Arthur was very dedicated and involved with the community.
     Arthur is predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Margaret MacDonald Murdock; his two sisters, Ann Bouley and Marion Dehmain; and two brothers, John Murdock and Robert Murdock. Arthur is survived by three daughters, Barbara Fletcher and husband Edson of Scarborough, Kathleen Marks and husband Edward of South Portland, and Mary Marston and husband Greg, also of South Portland; two sons, Arthur Murdock III of Portland and Craig Murdock and wife Cherie of Scarborough. Arthur is also survived by 12 grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren.
     Visiting hours will be held 4-7 p.m., Friday, July 27, 2007, at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. A 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Church, Main Street, South Portland. Burial will follow at New Calvary Cemetery. I retired from Scarboro Public Safety and always saw Mr. Murdock around Town - at the Local Coffee Shops etc., and he was always very friendly and interesting to talk to. A real Nice man. I have you all in my prayers.
