Brian Mackowiak Obituary

Brian Mackowiak, 68
SACO - Brian Mackowiak, of Saco, passed away the morning of Friday, June 2, 2017, at 68.
Monty, as many affec-tionally knew him, was the oldest of three children born to Edmund Mackowiak and Irene Skrok Mackowiak, on April 27, 1949. He grew up in Easthampton, Mass., attending Sacred Heart School and Easthampton High School.
At 17, he left home to serve through four campaigns in the Vietnam War. Brian was very proud to have served his country and wore his veteran status literally, on his sleeve.
He raised three daughters, Christina Dubin, Brittany Mackowiak and Ella Evans, with his former wife, Barbara Mackowiak. His last employment took him inside submarines as a skilled worker at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. An avid hunter and fisherman, Brian seemed most content in the beautiful woods and waterways of Maine.
Brian is survived by his sisters, Nora Bernier and Louise O'Leary; his daughters; and his grandchildren, Tyler White, Sophia White, Elias Dubin, Hattie Dubin and Henry LeFebvre. He will be missed by many other family members and friends as well.
Brian's family is grateful for the treatment and respect given during the last months of his life by doctors and staff at New England Cancer Specialists in Scarborough, and by his Beacon Hospice nurse.
A graveside service with military honors for Brian will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery, Mayher Street, Easthampton, Mass., located off Holyoke St. Rt 141. The Graham Funeral Home is entrusted with providing local arrangements.

My deepest condolences to Monty's family, especially his sisters who he was close to when I knew him in 1976 and 1977. We had many good times in Rahar's and around the area before he left for TX. Although I lost contact with him, I had heard he moved to Saco and every time I went through there to visit my parents in ME, I hoped to see him although I never did. I'm shocked and saddened to see he has passed on. Being the nice person he was, I'm sure he will have 1st class living and peace for eternity in heaven. Until we meet again...take it easy Monty.

To Brian's entire family (and friends),
I am heartbroken. I didn't have the pleasure of knowing Brian for very long, but we shared laughs on a regular basis when he'd stop to chat when we'd run into each other while walking our dogs.
We even took some time to try to coax a rainbow trout or two out of Nashawanuck Pond, but that day, the fish won. Not to be discouraged, we vowed to "Get 'em next time!"
He was a "Class Act".
Brian:
Save us a good fishin' hole up there. We'll pick up where we left off someday.
