Bruce Turgeon Obituary

Bruce A. Turgeon, 83
SCARBOROUGH - Bruce A. Turgeon, 83, passed away Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, at Maine Veter-ans' Home, in Scarborough, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.
He was born in Madison on Nov. 15, 1934, the son of the late Alpheus and Dora (Pelletier) Turgeon. He graduated in 1953 from Madison High School and went on to serve in the United States Army as a medic.
Following his honorable dis-charge, Bruce went to Farmington Teachers College for two years. He then transferred to Aroostook State Teachers College (now known as the University of Maine - Presque Isle), where he graduated with a B.S. degree in 1962.
He married Frances (Kowalzyk) Turgeon on July 3, 1965 and they raised three wonderful children.
He was hired into the world of insurance as a claims adjuster for General Adjustment Bureau in Presque Isle. He later went on to work for Patrons-Oxford Mutual Insurance Company in the same position. Finally, he started with Concord Insurance as a claims supervisor, where he remained until his retirement in 1996.
Bruce always enjoyed playing various sports, from high school right on into college. He especially enjoyed watching his favorite sports team, the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.
He was well-known for his quick wit and great sense of humor, yet he was always a kind and gentle man.
Bruce was an active communicant in St. Maximilian Kolbe and at one time served as a Eucharistic minister. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.
Bruce was predeceased by his first wife, Frances K. Turgeon, on April 18, 2006.
He is survived by his second wife, Hilda Michaud-Turgeon, of Scarborough; children, Christopher and wife Stephanie, of Augusta; Kirk and wife Jennifer, of Brunswick; and daughter, Jennifer, and husband Thomas Nevala, of Indiana; and grandchildren, Mallory Turgeon; Riley, Reece and Ronan Turgeon; and Sofia and Benjamin Nevala. Bruce is also survived by his stepchildren, Laura and Joseph Doherty, Elizabeth and James Doane, Ralph Michaud, and Julie Libby; stepgrandchildren, Amanda Doherty and Chris Case, and Paige and Owen Doane; and great-grandson, Joseph P. Doherty-Case.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at the Maine Veterans' Home for their kind and compassionate care.

I just found out today of his passing and it's with a heavy heart I say goodbye to a man that taught me a lot about Insurance He had patience and kindness and really knew how to build a person's confidence. He was such a kind man and always so understanding and great to work with....I took over his position when he retired in 1998 and I remember Him coming back about a year later to visit me and saying ....did I tell you you could do it...,I was an object of his creation.....I say this with tears .... loved working with his son Kirk as well .... he is kind like his father...will always remember our years at Concord Group ....RIP Bruce Turgron
