David Goodwill Obituary

David H. Goodwill
EVANSTON, Ill. -- On the evening of Feb. 9, 2011, after a long and courageous battle, Dave passed peacefully in Evanston, Ill. He was surrounded by his loved ones - both near and far.
Dave was born on Jan. 2, 1941, in Watertown, N.Y., to Frederic Charles Goodwill and Gertrude Evelyn Stephanie ('Toby') (Webber). Dave spent his early years in Gull Lake, Mich., learning to water ski and comb a DA, before moving to Bucksport, where his father, a widower, married Dave's beloved stepmother Lois.
He is a graduate of Bucksport High School ('58) where he played football for the 'Golden Bucks' and received a business degree from Burdett College in 1960. For nearly 50 years, Dave worked proudly as a sales professional in the eyewear business.
A U.S. Army veteran, Dave ably assisted in raising his daughters, Dina (48) of Minneapolis, Minn., Louanna (23) of Seabrook, N.H., and Gillian (29) of Killington, Vt., and his sons, Frederic ('Ric') (47) of Evanston, Ill., and Greg (46) of South Portland. He was grandfather to Renard (9), Miranda (7), and Serafina (5) (Ric and Roseanna), Marley (10) and Riley (6) (Greg and Vicky), and Jesse (18 months) (Louanna and Phil) - who have another on the way. Aside from his offspring, Dave is survived by his ex-wives; brother, William (Friendship), sister Patricia (New Concord, Ky.) and by his loving caregiver (and assumed daughter), Halima White and her daughters, Leilani (17) and Elise (8). Dave's other sister, Virginia (Achilles) of Weekapaug, R.I., predeceased him. Also noteworthy is Dave's extended 'Eyecare Professionals Family' who reside throughout Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, and with whom Dave shared a mutual love and respect.
Services will be private.
In lieu of all else, please send remembrances ('good stories') to Ric and Roseanna Goodwill at [email protected] and any donations to the HHT Foundation

David was a fine man. He was one of my first salesman with marchon, and a good one. I wish the family all the best.

David was a Man's man. A great friend from Marchon days. Honored to have known him. To his family just know David was loved by everyone.
