Dear Rachel, Sam, Max, Helene, Ed, and Steve. I wish I could be in Portland with you in remembrance of Dave. I feel very lucky that we shared part of our lives together in Tampa. He made me laugh, possibly harder than anyone else. He was a strong, talented and magnetic man with a big heart. Even though it was just a phone (and occasional email) relationship the bedrock connection from those formative years in Tampa remained. Whenever we talked, he would tell me what was going on with everyone, so I felt connected to the family through his updates. And he of course was always interested to hear my news, so we shared our lives a few times a year, including our marriages, births of our children, and everything that came after. I will be thinking of you and Dave often. Love, Brian

There is no night without a dawning
No winter without a spring
And beyond the dark horizon
Our hearts will once more sing...
For those who leave us for a while
Have only gone away
Out of a restless, care worn world
Into a brighter day.
