Dear Dr. McCann is responsible for bringing me into the world, and for saving my Mother's life. When I was about one year old, Dr. McCann diagnosed my Mom with cervical cancer ..and this was way back in 1951. She had a hysterectomy and is currently 83 years old and still loves Dr. McCann! When she called me today to tell me he had passed away, I remembered what a great Doctor he was, how funny and cheerful to his patients (including me..he was my first ob/gyn Doctor when I was just a kid)and how kind he was to my Mom. We loved him and send our deepest sympathy to his family for their tremendous loss. We will always feel he was responsible for saving us in so many ways.
Sincerely,
Barbara Beardsley

Doctor McCann delivered our second daughter, Janine, in 1965. What a true blessing to have known such a remarkable man! There are doctors who make an impression to last for a life time. Dr. McCann's genuine caring ways put him at the top of the list. My family extends our deepest sympathy to all his family.

Dr McCann saved my life with the delivery of my 2nd child in 1953 after I had been in labor at another hospital for two days then transferred to Portland. He was a wonderful, gentle, caring doctor and man. I went back to him for the delivery of my 3rd child in 1955 and received the same great care. My heart and prayers go out to the family in the loss of your loved one.

I went to Dr. McCann when I was pregnant in 1969, and scared to death about having a baby. He was just wonderful to me all through the months and the birth. I never forgot how he put me so at ease and was so caring. The world could use a lot more doctors like him. My sympathy to all his family.

Recently, while visiting an Uncle at Falmouth by the Sea, I spoke briefly with Dr. McCann. We spoke about sailing his Ensign. I told him I could never figure out why
he had Two Chrysler outboards on his Center Console boats, when all he needed was one good Johnson.

We have lost some real fine people in the last 6-7 years, of old time Portland area famlies and Dr. McCann is one of them.

Best to all...

I was fortunate to have Dr. McCann with my second child when my husband was in Viet Nam. A wonderful, warm reassuring doctor with a great sense of humor. He was very comforting to a scared mother with a 10 month old baby and one on the way with a husband on his first tour in Viet Nam. Donna Gallant

In 1963 I had my first appointment with Dr. McCann. My marriage was just a week away and wanted to have a full exam before the big day. Children were not in our immediate plans as he, my soon to be husband, had orders for Vietnam. Well, to my surprise and somewhat delight, Dr. McCann informed me that I was nearly 3 months pregnant! Oh dear, what will I do? The invitations were out, the dress purchased, the country club reserved and the honeymoon paid for. Since both my mother and future mother-in-law were both patients of his, he gave me this advice. I don't want you to tell your mothers until you return from your honeymoon. You walk down the aisle, head held high and make it the joyous day it is intended to be. I did just that. Six months later, he delivered my son, Robert.

I am forever grateful to Dr.McCann and dear Mrs. Humphries. Fondly, Gayle McCormick Warren

Dr. McCann saw me through my child bearing years, and gave me a sense of assurance I have not had with doctors before or since. I will always be grateful for his knowledge and care. God bless his family and help them to be filled with joy at the gift he gave to his patients. Frances Mains
