Forrest Gerry Obituary

Forrest N. Gerry, 84
FREEPORT -- Forrest N. Gerry Jr., 84, born Oct. 3, 1927 in Biddeford, passed away on Oct. 11, 2011 at the Freeport Nursing home.
Forrest was lovingly known by most of his family and friends as Junior. He graduated from Biddeford High School at the age of 16 and attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology for two years. He has always loved sports, especially playing football in high school and boxed in the ring for a few years. Another passion was horse racing and it became an exciting career for him. He owned a large stable of standard bred horses, trained, and drove them. He traveled and raced all over the Untied States and Canada with great success.
On Oct. 12, 1951, he married the love of his life, Carolyn Bridges of Portland. They shared a son, Forrest (Buster) Gerry III and twin daughters, Carol Radonis and Cheryl Mills. Junior found great joy in his family and was very proud of Buster's accomplishments as a passionate veterinarian, horse owner, trainer and driver, as well as Carol and Cheryl becoming dedicated nurses, loving wives and mothers. Junior also immensely enjoyed traveling, card games, gambling in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, betting on horse races, telling jokes and stories, and dancing. He excelled in all of these areas.
Junior is survived by his three children, Forrest from New Jersey, Carol Radoni and her husband Joey of New York, and Cheryl Mills and husband James of New York; grandchildren, Tyler Radonis, James Mills, Michael Mills, and Brendan Mills. Junior also enjoyed a close relationship to two sisters, Barbara Mangrum and husband Gene of California and Shirley Bartlett and husband Mel of Saco. He was preceded in death by h is parents, Forrest and Pearl Weeman Gerry; and three sisters, Gloria Gerry, Dollie Provencal and Joyce Burnham, all from Biddeford.
There are no calling hours. Graveside services will be held at a later date because Forrest's body was donated to the University of New England College of Medicine for research

I'm glad to have known him in his final 7 years. He always told me "good waiters, get good tips." He'd always talk
about Annette F. in the old days and all the horse races he won.
I could never get enough of being around him. Especially his cooking. He is the smartest person I've ever met and
he never could get mad at anyone. He accomplished so much. I'll never find a man to live up to him. He told me he
had a good life with no regrets, I hope to live up to the same thing.-XoXo
