BRUNSWICK -- Frances Mansfield died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at MidCoast Hospital in Brunswick.
She was born in Wenham, Mass., on Sept. 18, 1915, the youngest of six children of Dr. Charles E. and Annie M. Hayes Ames. Frances lived in Ipswich, Mass. most of her life until retiring to Yarmouth in 1975. She married Robert W. Mansfield in 1935. She worked for many years for BOMAC in Beverly, Mass.
After moving to Maine she was a meal site coordinator for Meals on Wheels as well as donating her time delivering meals. For the last several years she has resided at Freeport Place in Freeport.
Frances will be remembered for her delicious homemade bread and cookies, her hand knit sweaters, and her extensive dahlia garden. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Brunswick.
She was predeceased by her husband; her son Charles W. Mansfield; three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include her son Robert A. Mansfield and wife Judi of Bath, daughter Joanne Eysell and husband Rolf of Freiburg, Germany; and her daughter- in-law Nancy Mansfield of Millinocket. Also surviving are two granddaughters, Wendy Polstein and husband Matt of Millinocket and Wendy Donovan and husband Tim of Wiscasset; and four great-grandchildren, Max, Sam and Annie Polstein and Alison Donovan.
A memorial service is being planned for May.
Memorial donations may be made
to St. Paul's Episcopal Church
in Brunswick.
