Fred A. Ricker, 59

EAST WAKEFIELD, N.H. - Fred A. Ricker, 59, of Cardinal Street, East Wakefield, died June 22, 2005 unexpectedly at his home.

Born March 9, 1946 in West Springfield, Mass., he was the son of Fred D. and Ruth (Whitbeck) Ricker. Raised in Gorham, he lived there most of his life and lived in East Wakefield for over 12 years. A graduate of Gorham High School, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Most recently, he worked at Thompson Center Arms in Rochester, N.H. for 11 years and was previously employed at D&G Machine Products of Westbrook, and General Electric in South Portland.

Fred had more than 20 years of leadership with the West Gorham Fire Department and reached the rank of captain. He was instrumental with training, running fund-raising auctions, and encouraging younger people to become volunteers.

An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing. He was a lifelong, faithful member and past president of the Northern York County Rod & Gun Club, and was very active in all their functions including gun shows, pig roast, annual auctions and hunter safety courses.

He enjoyed 'Lake Fred” at the club, gardening, raising pigs and logging. He also loved dogs and his annual pig roast for his family, friends and co-workers.

Survivors include his wife of 11 years, who he was a devoted caregiver to, Linda (Meisner) Ricker of East Wakefield; son, Timothy Ricker and wife, Deborah of South Paris; daughters, Kathleen Gaetz and husband, Doug of Hamilton, Ind., Joanna Wren and husband, Chad of Angola, Ind., Rebecca Ricker of Salem, Ind., and Sheila Wisnioski and fianc , Joseph Lochiatto of Effingham, N.H.; sister, Anne Lindquist of South Portland; grandchildren, Eric and Daniel Ricker, both of South Paris, Zachary and Ashley Gaetz, Kristen and Kelsey Wren, all of Indiana, Natalie Lochiatto of Effingham, N.H.; an aunt; two cousins; and his wife's extended family; many friends at Rod and Gun Club and co-workers at Thompson Center Arms and the Gorham Fire Department.

Calling hours will be 4-7 p.m., June 26, at Peaslee Funeral Home, 2079 Wakefield Road, Sanbornville, (Wakefield) N.H. A graveside funeral service will be Monday at 11 a.m., at Lovell Lake Cemetery in Sanbornville, N.H.

to the Ricker family,my wife and i was saddened to hear of freds passing,he was such a character" and so whitty,we worked with him at tca,he treated me like a son and i always called him pops" i would be working away and here would come fred to sneak up on me and scare the heck out of me by dropping a metal plate behind me and watching me jump ten feet in the air,boy he would laugh all day about it. but that was fred" he taught me so much about machining and made me excell in my job,what a great friend and co-worker, i hope heavens ready for fred" the lord has his hands full. May god bless your family and watch over all of you, i feel i know you all as fred spoke often of all of you and how proud he was of his children,and family. i still wont forget how fred lost first place in horse shoes, when him and i were partners at the pig roast, but what fun it was.may god bless everyone at T C A from the loss of a wonderfull person and co-worker "God Bless"

To the family of Fred Ricker "Rick". He will be sadly missed by all. We had some really good times at the campground years ago. I know that i miss the campground. I wish it was still there to take my children to it. We had the pool ,train, and the ferris wheel to ride on. Those were the days. Us kids use to leave from the farm and go through the corn field to get back to the campground.He never got mad that we were in the corn. All us kids use to pitch in when needed to help because he was always there for us. Rick was a great person and will be missed very much by all of us here in Berwick, ME. To the entire family of Mr. Fred Ricker, my condolences go out to everyone affected by this great loss. I have worked at TCA for 18 years and have known fred since he started at TCA, but just in the last 4-5 years, have i really gotten to know him and really seen where he is quite the character, and loved by everyone at TCA.
