Frederick Stuart
    Eggleston Jr., 65
SCARBOROUGH -- Frederick Stuart Eggleston Jr., 65, of Scarborough, formerly of West Falmouth and Hingham, Mass., born Nov. 24, 1941, died Saturday, April 7, 2007, at Maine Medical Center, Portland, after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Frederick and Jeanette (Briggs) Eggleston. Frederick was a Vietnam-era veteran who served in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Kathleen (Bracchi); two sons, Frederick IV (Rick) and his wife Kristy of Canton, Mass., and Joshua of Watertown, Mass.; and one daughter, Aimee Ahearn and her husband Timothy of Woodstock, Conn. He also leaves one sister, Judith Woodman and her husband Durwood of Ledyard, Conn.; and his sister- in-law, Mary-Jane Comeau and her husband James of Chelmsford, Mass. He will also be missed by his two grandchildren, Ashleigh and Matthew Eggleston; and his five nieces and nephews; grandnieces, grandnephews, and many cousins and friends.
Fred was known for his love of nature, especially the ocean. He found joy bird-hunting, fishing, fly fishing, and boating. After retiring as an electrical foreman for the U.S. Coast Guard in South Portland, he realized his dream of building his own boat.
Previously, he was employed as a computer programmer for the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute (WHOI), both at WHOI and aboard its research vessels. In 1975, he became an apprentice electrician at WHOI while completing his studies for his Journeyman and Masters Electrician licenses. He traveled world-wide for Bird Johnson Co., repairing ships' propulsion systems.
Visiting hours will be 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, Route 28A in West Falmouth, Mass. Dear Kathleen,
I feel so lucky to have had you and Fred as patients at your dental office in Cape Elizabeth. I was the very fortunate hygienist who got to see what a wonderful man Fred was. I always looked forward to seeing both of you.
Fred was such a strong man and so gentle and gracious during such a difficult time.
My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your loved ones.
Sincerely, Janice McNinch
