     HAMILTON, Mass. - George Stewart Mowbray, 82, husband of the late Phyllis M. (McCobb) Mowbray with whom he shared 51 years, died Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at the Masconomet Healthcare Center of Topsfield.
     Born in Natick, son of the late Guy C. and Rose (Hoey) Mowbray, he was a graduate of St. Mary's School in Waltham. Following high school, Mr. Mowbray entered the U.S. Army Air Corps. He served during World War II. He was a B17 aircraft mechanic and had entered the military at the age of 19. Following the military, Mr. Mowbray earned his aircraft mechanics license A&E from New England Aeronautical School in Boston.
     Mr. Mowbray was employed with Sylvania, later known as GTE Sylvania, for over 30 years. He started with the company as the chief of maintenance and pilot for the company and retired as the chief pilot. He was a pioneer in corporate aviation. He was a member of the Sylvania Quarter Century Club.
     Mr. Mowbray was very devoted to his family, loved to play horseshoes, play cribbage, go on cruises, summer in Limerick, and winter in Florida, with his wife.
     Surviving him are two children, G. Stewart Mowbray and his wife Lori of Salisbury, and Maureen R. Libby and her husband Robert of Limerick; a brother-in-law; four grandchildren, Jonathan, Jason, and Katelyn Mowbray, Michele L. Libby, Frederick Grabau of Florida; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
     He was also the father of the late Aislinn M. Mowbray and grandfather of the late Robert Tee Libby.
     His funeral will be held at the Church of St. Paul in Hamilton on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly on Monday from 4-8 p.m. Burial in Hamilton Cemetery.
