WINDHAM – Helen Geraldine Plummer, 92, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
She was born the daughter of Willie and Annie Lamb on July 25, 1922, a birthday she was proud to share with her son, Gary.
She grew up in White Rock on the family farm and attended a 2-room school house. She graduated from Gorham High School in 1940.
In 1945, she married D. William "Bill" Plummer and they resided in Windham. In 1965, she started college and earned a Bachelor and Masters Degree. This enabled her to fulfill her lifelong dream to become a classroom teacher.
She worked on local elections for many years, was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and was Worthy Matron in 1961. She was a Cub Scout Leader as well as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. She was a school volunteer, a member of the Windham Rotary Garden Club, active in Plummer's Place childcare, was a 75-year member of White Rock Grange, member of the Windham Historical Society and worked on the Windham 250th Anniversary Celebration. She was a member of M.E.A. & N.E.A., a member of the Gorham Alumni Association, and the Cumberland County Retired Teachers. She taught Sunday School at Friends Church.
She was an avid reader, loved puzzles and games and was very proud of her doll collection. She was also well known for her garden of beautiful dahlias.
Mrs. Plummer traveled from coast to coast and also in Europe.
She enjoyed many good times with family at the camp that she and her husband built on Bear Pond in Hartford, Maine.
Mrs. Plummer was predeceased by her husband, Bill and son, Duane. Surviving are her son Gary Plummer and his wife, Betty of Windham, her daughter, Rebecca Delaware and her husband, Roger of Scarborough and daughter-in-law, Judy Plummer of Bath; grandchildren, Dale Plummer and his wife Kim of Richmond, David Plummer and his wife Elaine of West Bath, Duane Plummer and his partner Patty of Auburn, Dwight Delaware and his wife Tonja of Limington, Bethany Bosse and her husband Pete of Freeport, Sarah Elliott and her husband Josh of Windham, Maranda Richards and her husband Benjamin of Portland; great-grandchildren, Julie Plummer and Jamie Plummer of Richmond, Danny Plummer of Florida, Dustin Plummer and wife Mary Charlotte of West Bath, Mariah Plummer-Elliott of Windham, Benjamin Elliott of Windham, Andrew Plummer of Bath, Maelee Delaware of Limington, and Noah Bosse of Freeport.
She touched many lives in her 92 years and will be loved and greatly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her.
Visiting hours will be Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 6:00 p.m. at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham. For online condolences, please visit www.dolbyfuneralchapels.com.

So sorry to hear of her passing. I have good
memories of Jonathan and I being dropped of the wait for the school bus when we very young.I remember her churning butter and making paper machete puppets. She was a wonderful women. I'll keep the family in my prayers.
