Isabelle Dion Obituary

Isabelle A. Dion, 81
     BIDDEFORD -- Isabelle A. Dion, 81, of Pool Street, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006, at Southern Maine Medical Center. She was born Aug. 30, 1924, in Grand Falls, NB, Canada, a daughter of Edmund and Therese Desjardins Rioux, and was educated there.
     During WWII, she left high school to work in a munitions plant in Drummondville, P.Q. After the war, she came to Biddeford where she met Paul Emile Dion; they were married Oct. 21, 1946, in Grand Falls.
     Mrs. Dion worked in local mills and here she completed her High School education and received her GED. In 1976, she went to work at the newly opened St. Andre's Health Care Facility, retiring in 1992 to care for her husband.
     Mrs. Dion was a member of St. Andre's Church, and was a former member of the Club Fremont, and the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans Auxiliaries. Isabelle enjoyed country music, knitting and crocheting and especially the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandson.
     She was predeceased by her husband Paul in 1992; a sister Irma St. Amand in 2001; a son- in-law Leo Cyr in 2002; and several brothers and sisters in Canada.
    Surviving are two daughters: Anne Cyr of Hollis; Lucy Sullivan and her husband James of Saco; two sons: Guy Dion and his wife Tammy of Biddeford; Kenneth Dion and his wife Sue of Saco; one sister: Lorraine Edgecomb of Gouldsboro, N.C.; two brothers: Lucide Rioux of Fredericton, NB; Rene Bijoux Rioux of Canada; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
     There will be no visiting hours. A memorial mass will take place at the chapel of St. Andre's Health Care Facility at a later date. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Biddeford. Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, Maine 04005.
