Miss Jane was a woman of great elegance, knowledge and good cheer. She was one of the few I looked forward to seeing come through the door at the Maine Historical Society in Portland when i was a young man at the library. Always cordial and courtly. She always had kind words for the staff and treated us well. I was fortunate to tour her house when she was still living there and the experience I will Cherish for a Lifetime.
