John Carrier Obituary

John Alden Carrier, Jr., 76

GRAY - "The greatest part of a road trip isn't the destination; it's all the wild stuff that happens along the way."

John (known by many as Alden) passed away June 18, 2018. unexpectedly, but peacefully, in his sleep. Born in Lowell, Mass. on June 9, 1942, John was the oldest of three children, born to John A. Carrier and Marion (Taisey) Carrier.

He attended Lexington High School and from there, spent four years in the Navy aboard the USS Klondike where he traveled the seas of the Pacific. After John's military service, he graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology and joined the Carrier family business but throughout his life, had many of his own entrepreneurial ventures.

John will best be remembered by his loving family and friends as a man who walked his own path without regard to what was conventional. He was well-liked and respected by many due to his big heart and charismatic personality. He was always ready for a new adventure. He loved boating, traveling, and life around a campfire.

John is survived by his loving companion, Joyce Perry of Gray; four children, John A. Carrier, III (Meghan, spouse) of Freeport, Matthew V. Carrier of Manchester N.H., Alison M. (Carrier) Alexander (Nathaniel, spouse) of Gorham, and Jason P. Carrier of Gray; brother, Jeffrey Carrier, and sister, Suzanne (Carrier) Stern Hollis, N.H.; and five grandchildren, John Carrier, IV, Caleb Mortinson, Alden Carrier, Evelyn Alexander, and Ari Alexander; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. John is also survived by his formers spouses, Patricia Ciccolo and Theresa A. (Janowicz) Carrier.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at the AMVETS Robert Boyd Post, 148 North Rd., Yarmouth, Saturday, June 30, 2018, noon to 4:00 p.m. Join us in celebrating the many wonderful memories John made with so many. Children are welcome.
